Oak City's owner, Will, walked us through the process and timeline. During the planning phase, there were a number of moving parts. To help us stay within our budget, Will created a comprehensive spreadsheet, so we could make decisions based on our priorities. He coordinated vendor visits and his team's involvement, and kept track of planning steps, making sure all items were completed in a timely manner. He listened to our requests, pivoted when appropropriate, earned our trust and remained positive, encouraging, and professional throughout the process.

Alex helped us with design and material selection, making it possible for us to show her photos and find quality (and low VOC) materials that resulted in a similar look within our budget. She created the renderings, helping us envision the designs ahead of time and came up with creative solutions when we felt unsure.

Travis, our project manager, kept track of a "gazillion" details, was always friendly, professional, and quickly available by text. He even sent photos of progress along the way and offered to pick up materials to increase convenience for us.

Rich, the primary contractor, was especially skillful, and like the rest of the team, thoughtful (checking with us about our preferences whenever there were multiple options) and responsive when we had questions or requests. When we faced small challenges (as every project presents), he calmly offered and implemented solutions.

Oak City really shines when it comes to the construction phase. All of their systems and organization made this process remarkably efficient and smooth and kept the project on time. They cleaned up after their work (including hiring a cleaning service at the end) and thoroughly checked to make sure we were happy with each aspect of their work, even offering suggestions for how to take care of the new spaces."

“We hired Oak City to build a bonus room in our attic, and they did a fantastic job on the project! They were quick to respond to questions, stayed within the agreed budget, and performed quality work.

We had several contractors look over the project, and we went with Oak City due to their prompt communication and flexibility to work with us on both our budget and the floor plan. They were able to work with us to get exactly what we wanted while fulfilling the city's code requirements. They handled all of the project scheduling through an online portal, so we always knew what was happening that week. This calendar helped us plan around parts of the project, like hvac requiring the air to be turned off for a full day in August. All the inspections went smoothly, and they made sure anything that was found did not hold up the project timeline.

We had Will and his team replace some flooring and subflooring, upgrade the electrical panel in a home we purchased from 100 amp to 200 amp, add some outlets, install (and ultimately modify) a cabinet we purchased to add to the kitchen so that it meshed with the existing cabinets, install a countertop for the new cabinet, add a dishwasher (and associated water line), relocated a washer dryer hookup, and more.
